The ideal method

Seven steps to firm memorization

  1. 1

    Listening

To recite the verses correctly, first listen to the portion once or twice from a skilled reciter, until your recitation and delivery are sound.

  2. 2

    Understanding & reflection

To act upon the Quran and live with its verses, read a tafsir carefully, such as As-Sa'di's, and write down at least one benefit from every portion you memorize.

  3. 3

    Repetition

Repetition is the secret of firm memorization. Repeat each verse until you know it, then the next, then repeat the whole portion fifteen times, and earn the great reward of repetition.

  4. 4

    Consolidation

After repeating the whole portion, consolidate it by reciting it from memory two or three times. If you hesitate or slip, repeat until it flows.

  5. 5

    Linking

Two kinds: partial linking between the verses of the new portion, and full linking of the new portion with what came before it.

  6. 6

    Review

A portion set out in the Bil-Quran Nahya plans, which can be done during prayers, obligatory or voluntary.

  7. 7

    Presenting

Recite your new portion to a teacher if possible, or to anyone around you if you have no teacher.

Graduates

The journey of completion and honoring

1

Who is a graduate?

A hafiz who completed memorizing the Quran with the academy and recited it from memory, whether for the first time or not.

One is counted a graduate after completing the entire Quran and then reciting it from memory within no more than forty days, then passing the graduates' exam.

2

The graduates' exam

A qualitative exam given once the student completes memorization and review, to confirm the memorization before honoring them with the graduates' certificate.

A teacher other than their own examines them in the presence of students, taking their age into account, with thirty questions, one per part. Out of one hundred, above eighty is a pass.

3

Honoring graduates

On passing, the academy's accredited graduates' certificate is prepared and sent electronically, privately and to the student's circle group.

The academy administration also visits with motivational gifts, and the student's teacher is honored with a symbolic certificate and a token of appreciation.

“Part of honoring Allah is honoring the bearer of the Quran.”
